Practicing Selfcare In Motherhood ~ Meet Kat
Building a connection between like-minded individuals is something we’re passionate about at our yoga studio. “Kula” means community in the ancient and sacred language of Sanskrit. Not only do we provide locals from Hawthorn and Camberwell yoga classes, but we also provide them with a yoga studio where people can connect, share and grow. Our students come from all around the Boroondara area to sweat, play, learn and reach their health and fitness goals. Every day at Kula we come across individuals who have inspired us and continue to help shape our community; we wanted to share their stories with you.
Name: Kat King (and baby Vivian)
Kula: Favourite style of yoga at Kula?
Kat: Post-natal and Yoga with Baby.
Kula: Why do you practice yoga?
Kat: For me yoga is a great way to release tension and tired muscles that come from being a new Mum. It is also a fabulous way to snatch a few quiet moments to myself and practice some self care.
Kula: What do you love about Kula?
Kat: The kind and open atmosphere and the friendly teachers and students make Kula a warm and welcoming sanctuary.
Kula: Is yoga your main form of exercise or do you participate in other sports, fitness or activities?
Kat: Prior to baby I was a keen member of the CrossFit Hawthorn East community, now yoga and walks with my little one are a better pace for me!
Kula: What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment?
Kat: My main goal at the moment is to rebuild my core strength.
Kula: Apart from Kula, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area?
Kat: You mean apart from my daughter’s bedroom at 4am and my couch at home right?! At the moment the Anniversary Trail or any of the parks around Camberwell are high on my list of hangouts but I also love a caffeine hit at My Other Brother or Prospect Expresso in Camberwell.
