Last Tuesday, something one of our yogis said completely cracked me up—but also reminded me why I love this practice so much.
She walked into the studio, rolled out her mat, and announced:
“I’m staying for as long as I need to be nice again!”
She’d had one of those days. Frazzled. Overwhelmed. Totally out of sorts. But she also knew exactly what she needed—to move, to breathe, to shift her energy—and that she’d come to the right place.
She started with our Flow class. Mindful movement, breathwork, a chance to get out of her head and back into her body. After class, she popped up to the desk with a smile and said:
“OK, I’m getting back on track… but I’m staying for the next one, because surely Yin will make me even nicer?”
So she stayed.
From dynamic movement to deep stillness, she transitioned straight into Yin—long holds, deep stretches, and sweet, quiet space to just be. By the end of the night, she floated out the door.
“Perfect! I’m nice again! Thank you.”
It made me giggle… but it also made me reflect. Because it’s true—yoga really is the best reset button.
I lean on it, too. When I need space. When I feel ‘off’. When my nervous system is buzzing or my mind won’t stop spinning. Sometimes we don’t even realise how much we need it—until we start.
Until we take that first deep breath.
Until our shoulders drop.
Until we notice our exhale get a little longer.
Until we walk out and think, “Oh wow. I feel different.”
That’s the magic. That’s what I love to experience, to teach, and to witness in our Kula community.
Because we all have rough moments. Long days. Short fuses. And in those moments, we have a choice:
Do I stay down here, or do I try to lift myself up?
Maybe for you, the reset is yoga. Maybe it’s a walk in the fresh air, a vent with a friend, a strong cup of tea, or a singalong in the car. But whatever it is, finding what helps you shift your energy is powerful. Healing. Life-changing.
And if you ever need a space to move, breathe, and reconnect? Stay as long as you need.
We’ve got plenty of double and triple class combos (Hot into Yin, Flow into Meditation…) designed to help you walk in frazzled and float out calm.
In fact, I’m covering Sunday 4.30pm Hot + 6pm Yin & Meditation at Hawthorn this week—come along and let the reset begin.
See you at the studio,
