Building a connection between like-minded individuals is something we’re passionate about at our yoga studio. “Kula” means community in the ancient and sacred language of Sanskrit. Not only do we provide locals from Hawthorn and Camberwell yoga classes, but we also provide them with a yoga studio where people can connect, share and grow. Our students come from all around the Boroondara area to sweat, play, learn and reach their health and fitness goals. Every day at Kula we come across individuals who have inspired us and continue to help shape our community; we wanted to share their stories with you. Read below to learn more.

Name: Jacqui (Jacqui is one of our regular Kula yogis and a member of our new Kula Tribe membership)

Kula: Favourite style of yoga at Kula?

Jacqui: This week it’s Power, but ask me next week and it could be Yin or Hot – short answer, love them all!

K: What do you love about Kula Yoga?

J: The fabulous teachers, inclusive and welcoming community, variety of yoga offered and the timetable that includes midday sessions.

K: Is yoga your main form of exercise, or do you go to the gym, participate in other sports, fitness or activities?

J: I work in fitness taking HIIT sessions 6 x week, plus dabble in a bit of running. Over the years yoga has been a support act to running, but at the moment it’s (yoga) my main focus (that’s why I’m at Kula most days…I get a little hooked on things!)

K: What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment?

J: Nothing in particular, just trying to maintain good health, happiness & fitness.

K: Apart from Kula, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area?

J: Mr Brownstone in Ashburton for coffee (the best!), Bella Sistas in Toorak Rd Camberwell for lunch with the girls, and of course my little business Heart Body & Soul in Glen Iris, plus the massage table at Revive – Leanne has magic hands!

K: What do you love most about the Kula Tribe?

J: Value for money…I can practice daily and it only costs $35/week…AMAZING value x
