Building a connection between like-minded individuals is something we’re passionate about at our yoga studio. “Kula” means community in the ancient and sacred language of Sanskrit. Not only do we provide locals from Hawthorn and Camberwell yoga classes, but we also provide them with a yoga studio where people can connect, share and grow. Our students come from all around the Boroondara area to sweat, play, learn and reach their health and fitness goals. Every day at Kula we come across individuals who have inspired us and continue to help shape our community; we wanted to share their stories with you.
image1Name: Cassandra (a regular Kula yogi, she started her yoga journey at Kula and eventually undertook her yoga teacher training when Les Leventhal visited the studio last year)
Kula: Favourite style of yoga at Kula?
Cassandra: All styles but power is the best as I get to play with arm balances and inversions.

K: Why do you practice yoga?
C: Keeps me sane when life feels like lemons, challenged mentally and physically.
K: What do you love about Kula Yoga?
C: Convenience, community and life long friendships I have built over the years. It’s the studio that sparked my love for yoga and with the support of the ex and current awesome Kula teachers, I have gotten to where I am today which is far beyond what I would have ever imagined.
K: Is yoga your main form of exercise, or do you go to the gym, participate in other sports, fitness or activities?
C: A lot of people ask me this and no all I do is yoga, yoga classes, yoga workshops, yoga anything haha
K: What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment?
C: My continuous one is be active, explore and mindful eating. Though I do love food so often treating myself.
K: Apart from Kula, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area?
C: Being local one of my favourite spots is Coltivare for a juice, Lights in the Attic for good brunch after a yoga sesh and obviously lululemon for yoga gear.
K: What do you love most about the Kula Tribe?
C: Chatting before a yoga sesh with my fellow kula yogis, loosing track of time and getting herded like sheep into class haha and/or being told to keep quiet. 😉
