In·tu·i·tion (noun)
- the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.
- a thing that one knows or considers likely from instinctive feeling rather than conscious reasoning.
Learning to listen to our inner guidance is a compelling practice. When I take the time to tune in, to listen to my gut, I find that I’m lead into powerful places in my life.
Intuition is a mental mystery according to science. Researchers at the Centre for Organisational Strategy (Learning and Change – Leeds University Business School), “Intuition is the result of the way our brains store, process and retrieve information on a subconscious level and so is a real psychological phenomenon which needs further study to help us harness its potential.”
To help verify the mystery of my own intuition I focus on how to amplify that inner voice. There are various ways you can explore finding your inner voice, including:
2. Yoga & Meditation
As always, yoga and meditation are the key to cleaning out the old and making way for inner direction. It can be difficult to tune in and listen to how you feel when your mind is all over the place. When you finally make time to calm the mind, it is not long before you can access your inner voice. During these serene moments, try asking the questions for your intuition to answer.
1. Dream Journal
You can uncover many hidden insights, desires and wishes by reflecting on your dreams the morning after. It is one of the best ways to tap into the subconscious mind. You can keep a dream journal next to your bed, or share your dreams with others. If you have an important decision to make in life you can also ponder the issue right before bed and ask your subconscious to show you a solution in your dreams.
3. Nature Walks
Take a walk outdoors and connect with Mother Nature to help you feel aligned and open. No matter what state of mind you are in when you start your outdoor adventure, you will always return in a better mood than before. When trying to find inner guidance, it’s usually more effective to take a walk alone to ensure that you are focused on your self-awareness.
The benefits of intuition training range from amplifying creativity, authenticity, wisdom and a general sense of well being. There is never a better time than now when it comes to listening to what the heart is saying.
“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
See you on your mats. Sweat, stretch & smile,
