After a hugely enjoyable course of classes last term, we are very excited to welcome back Lois from Sprouts Yoga to Kula Yoga in January. We will be heading on school holiday yoga adventures on the 10th, 17th & 24th of January, before kicking off our 9 week term on Sunday 29th.
Sprouts Yoga is real yoga, translated into kid-friendly language. We go on adventures; learning poses, vinyasa and relaxation through music, stories and songs. Our little Sprouts pretend to be underwater creatures, jungle animals or super heroes, depending on the theme that week. Breathing exercises encourage calm and clarity. Partner poses teach reliance and trust in others. Relaxation time incorporates short visualisations to stimulate creativity.
Yoga helps kids manage stress, gain confidence, and plant the seeds of a resilient self-belief in their own strength and abilities. Nurturing self-confidence in the early years is key to fostering success, happy relationships and healthy mindsets in later life. Yoga teaches children techniques to deal with acute and ongoing stress, while building strong, healthy bodies. The practice can help to foster and encourage healthy eating and lifestyle habits. The most important part to the children themselves is, of course, that the classes are fun!

I firmly believe yoga should be part of the curriculum in every school in Australia, and I would be honoured to play a part in making that a reality. If I can start kids on the journey to a healthier life from 3 years of age, I think I can help to make our next generation a happier and healthier one.
I’m Lois, Head Sprout. I’ve been practicing yoga for the last 20 years, and have been lucky enough to attend classes, courses and workshops with some absolutely incredible teachers from all over the world. I did my adult yoga TT with Byron Yoga Centre around 8 years ago. After watching my own daughter copy my poses at home from the time she was a tiny baby, I realised kid’s yoga was my calling. I had the pleasure of doing my Children’s TT with Zenergy Yoga. Loraine and her team are amazing. Now I teach classes all over Melbourne, with many more exciting projects to come!

Kula Yoga has a beautiful hot yoga studio on Camberwell Rd, Hawthorn, Melbourne.
