Kula Yoga’s owner, Kacey, chatted recently with the team at lululemon about the motherhood journey with her beautiful bub, Mali.
We took five to chat to Camberwell ambassador & owner of power house Kula Yoga & Wellness, Kacey Smith.
Kacey is a kick ass yogi and mum, and in the lead up to Mother’s Day we had a little pow wow with her to celebrate the inspiring mama’s in our community.

What are you most proud/surprised about with your practice since having Mali?
“There is nothing more magical than seeing the world through innocent eyes. Mali has helped me to enjoy the little things. To slow down. To take complexity out of my everyday life and enjoy simplicity. She’s my teacher.”
What advice would you give to mum’s when coming back to movement after having a baby?
“I encourage all new mamas to listen to their body and return back to gentle movement when they are ready. Stretching, breathing and moving can help to ease tension in the body and calm the mind. Practicing with your bub is a fun and beautiful experience. And taking some time out to practice on your own will give you a chance to switch off, build strength and stability, and then rest without having to listen out for a little one.
I’m constantly reminding myself to fill my own cup first so that I can nurture others. Practicing yoga makes me a better mum, a better wife and a better person.”

We are so happy to be able to offer Yoga With Baby classes at Kula, to allow new mums to stretch, strengthen and play with their bubs.
About Kacey: Kacey is the founder of Kula Yoga. Her love for travel led her to Canada where she completed her teacher training at YYOGA Neoalpine in Hot Yoga, with a further intensive in Power Vinyasa. She invited inspirational Yin Yoga teachers Mysan Sidbo & Jennifer Crescendo to hold teacher training courses at the Kula Yoga studio where she learned the beautiful benefits of a Yin practice. She soon found value in the blissful mind-body connection that continuously inspires her to combine Yin with her dynamic Power & Hot practice.
