Building a connection between like-minded individuals is something we’re passionate about at our yoga studios. “Kula” means community in the ancient and sacred language of Sanskrit. Not only do we provide locals from Hawthorn and Hampton yoga classes, but we also provide them with a yoga studio where people can connect, share and grow. Our students come from all around the Boroondara & Bayside area to sweat, play, learn and reach their health and fitness goals.
Every day at Kula we come across individuals who have inspired us and continue to help shape our community; we wanted to share their stories with you.
Meet Jordyn Chodziesner
Kula: What is your favourite style of yoga at Kula?
Jordyn: Hot flow is my favourite because I love to work up a sweat and feel fresh after it.
K: Why do you practice yoga?
J: The main reason I practice is because I think yoga is the best daily activity for my mind. Yoga puts me on the right path and makes me feel aligned.
K: What do you love about Kula?
J: I love the community at Kula. It’s so nice to walk in and be greeted. It feels like coming home.
K: Is yoga your main form of exercise or do you participate in other sports, fitness or activities?
J: Yoga is my main form of physical activity. I try to start almost every day with a class. I also play netball and go running during the week.
K: What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment?
J: I am trying to become stronger. I just got back from 7 months overseas and lost a lot of my body strength so I’d like to regain that.
K: Apart from Kula, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area?
J: My favourite place to hangout in Hawthorn is Porgie and Mr Jones which is located across the road from Kula. I love doing a yoga class and then going out for breakfast with friends at Porgies right after.
K: What do you love most about the Kula Tribe?
J: I love the ease of everything. I can walk in and everything I need is waiting; a mat, towel etc. it makes for no excuses.
