Kula Studio Announcement Image

Exciting times ahead. A message from our studio owner Kacey…

Please take 5 minutes out of your day to watch this important video

Hi everyone,

We’re really excited to share our news with you. Most of you would know from the display suite downstairs that our building is going to be redeveloped, which we knew was always going to happen eventually, so the time is finally here.
And so now we’re ready to share our news with all of you. Behind the scenes we’ve been secretly fitting out our new studio space. Our new forever home is almost ready to go and it’s shaping up to be a beautiful sanctuary for you all to enjoy.

To make the move as easy and convenient as we could for all of you we are staying hyper local. Our new space is only 800 metres from the current studio – located at 259 Auburn Road, close to Riversdale Road, in Hawthorn.

We wanted to avoid the major traffic congestion of the Camberwell Junction/Burke Road area as well as Glenferrie Road. We’ve decided to stay directly in the middle of both of them like we are now. We have some great new neighbours that we’re excited to get to know, including some fabulous cafes and shops.

We felt it was important to choose a site that still offered you the convenience of free street parking, we didn’t want you to have to pay for parking to come to class, and there’s free parking directly out front. There’s some parking restrictions during business hours with 1 hour limits so if you want to live on the edge you can still park out the front, but if you want to be more conservative during those times there’s still plenty of 2 hour options in the surrounding streets as well.
If you do take public transport there’s a tram stop just near us on Riversdale Road, and we’re only 700 metres to Auburn train station. As always we encourage you to walk or ride your bike to class if that’s an option – it’s better for you and the environment. And there’s a bike rack just near our front entrance that we’d love to see you use.
With the new studio we will be reducing down from 2 studio rooms to 1. This 1 studio room is just as big as our current large studio so plenty of room for you all. Instead of a square room like we have now it will be a rectangle room with mirrors down one end.

The timetable is obviously going to be altered to suit 1 room instead of 2. The majority of our classes will stay exactly the same with only the weeknight 6.30pm and some of the weekend classes being shuffled around. There will be some new class times but we’re not reducing the number of classes, in fact we’re adding one to offer 38 classes, 7 days a week. And we’re also launching a new style – we’ll be adding 2 Slow Flow classes for you all to try, and of course, the entire team of Kula teachers that you know and love will be moving over with us.

Now apart from the large studio room with FIR heating the new space will still have the same facilities we currently offer – there will be a reception and waiting area, a treatment room, change rooms, showers, a kitchenette with filtered water and herbal tea.

The changeover will be happening at the end of August. It will be business as usual until then with the final classes at our current studio being held on Sunday August 27th.

And then from Monday August 28th until Friday September 1 the studio will be closed for 5 days as we transition over to the new location. The management team will be holding or extending your passes for those 5 days.

And we will be offering some free pop up classes out in the local community so you can continue to practise as we prepare to open the new studio. Stay tuned for the pop up schedule to be announced in the next few weeks.
Saturday September 2nd is our Open Day at the new studio and it’s also our 5th birthday so we’ve timed it perfectly to have a big celebration. We’ll have free yoga all day, we’re going to have membership specials, prizes and surprises – so put September 2nd in your diaries. We’d love to see you there, bring your friends, check out the new studio and be in the running for some cool prizes.
From Sunday September 3rd our new timetable will be in effect at the new location – however that’s also Father’s Day so we’ll be inviting all dads, and special men in your life, to come to class with you for free. Another little bonus happening that weekend.
We are looking for a little bit of extra help for the move. If you have some time to spare in August & September we’d love to offer you an energy exchange opportunity. We are looking for karma yogi volunteers to help us with the studio move to our new location. We have a range of tasks that we need help with ranging from painting to cleaning and odd jobs, or flyer drops, babysitting or promotions. You will receive an unlimited yoga membership – the length of time will depend on the number of hours you help out.
Please email Kacey with any area of interest or special skills you may have: [email protected]
(experience not necessarily needed though)

So there’s a lot happening behind the scenes – but for all of you it’s business as usual at our current location for now and we’ll keep you up to date with the changeover to the studio. We’re really excited, we hope you’ll embrace the change with us and get excited too – we can’t wait to share our new space with you all!
If you have any questions please feel free to shoot us an email or call us and we’ll be more than happy to have a chat.
From me, and all of the teaching team, thank you all for making Kula the amazing place that it is and for all of your support over the past 5 years. We love the community that’s been created, and we can’t wait to transition over to our new space and continue to share our love of yoga with all of you.
Exciting times ahead! We’ll see you at the studio. Namaste.
