Building a connection between like-minded individuals is something we’re passionate about at our yoga studio.“Kula” means community in the ancient and sacred language of Sanskrit. Not only do we provide locals from Hawthorn and Camberwell yoga classes, but we also provide them with a yoga studio where people can connect, share and grow. Our students come from all around the Boroondara area to sweat, play, learn and reach their health and fitness goals. Every day at Kula we come across individuals who have inspired us and continue to help shape our community; we wanted to share their stories with you. Read below to learn more.
Name: Tiana (Tiana is one of our amazing 30 Day Yoga Challengers!)
Kula: Favourite style of yoga at Kula?
Tiana: I love all sorts of yoga, but in particular power flow as I find it energising and restorative.
K: Why do you practice yoga?
T: I initially did yoga for flexibility and strength, but now I also love it for calming my mind and body.
K: What do you love about Kula?
T: I love Kula because it is such an inviting, light filled space. It’s warmth permeates not only through its design but also through the highly skilled yoga instructors that guide you through your practice.
K: Is yoga your main form of exercise or do you participate in other sports, fitness or activities?
T: Whilst I practice yoga, I also love running and boxing.
K: What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment?
T: My health goal for the moment is to drink more water, which coincides well with the 30 Day Yoga Challenge.
K: Apart from Kula, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area?
T: I love doing a workout of kicking the footy with my partner at Anderson park in Hawthorn East. I also love going for breakfast at Red Robyn in Camberwell or Axil Coffee Roasters in Hawthorn
K: Why did you choose to take part in the 30 Day Challenge this month? Tell us about your experience so far.
T: I initially chose to do the 30 Day Yoga Challenge as a new fitness challenge along with one of my good friends. My goals were to not only improve my strength and flexibility, but also to increase the consistency and intensity of my yoga practice and so far I have loved doing the 30 Day Yoga Challenge. I not only feel my practice is improving, but I feel more energised and I’m sleeping better. As a result of the challenge I have also tried Yin yoga, which I love for its deep stretching and relaxation.
