“The single overriding objective in wellness is creating constant personal renewal where we recognise and act on the truth that each day is a miraculous gift, and our job is to untie the ribbons. That’s the Law of Esprit: living life with joy.”
Greg Anderson
I love celebrating the new year, and the sense of excitement it inspires within our community.
Are you ready to take the plunge into 2017 with me?
Right now I am focused on reconnecting with my yoga practice after the craziness of the festive season, and the calm lull I’m feeling after another amazing and busy year. My focus is our studio theme for January, ‘Renewal’.
The end of the year left my body feeling depleted of energy and my soul needing some time to reflect and reconnect, both on and off the yoga mat.
My favourite ritual in the new year is to move through a heart opening yoga practice to help me feel energised, open and grounded. Then I sit in quiet meditation and reflect on the year just passed and then I start visualising the year ahead and beyond.
In these reflective scenarios, I review my core values and beliefs. I listen to my head, my heart and my gut to decide what feels right and what doesn’t. I start by asking myself these simple questions;
● WHERE DO I SEE MYSELF IN 10 YEARS’ TIME?
With no limitations – Who am I with, what am I doing, where am I located, what makes me smile? What inspires me to be the best version of myself, every day?
● WHAT CAN I DO THIS YEAR TO GET ME ON TRACK TOWARDS MY VISION?
What are my health, professional and personal goals? What are the small steps I can put in place to head in the right direction?
To prepare for an amazing year, I call upon all my hidden desires, wants and needs. I am switching my mind from focusing on any hurdles from last year, and instead, looking positively towards my future goals.
I imagine the steps I need to take in order to achieve these goals, in hopes to see a clear path towards the finish line.
I have discovered, it doesn’t matter how small my yearly ambitions are, the more attainable the task, the better. These highly achievable intentions always improve how I feel about myself, and in turn prepare my body and mind for great success in the coming months.
I am committed to taking small steps towards my vision. During moments of self-love and inner renewal, I reflect upon who I want to be, and where I want my life journey to go.
I always attempt to build up my own confidence and seek to find happiness and appreciation with the little things I do each day. I target the tasks that make me feel alive and full of purpose.
With consistent self-love and motivation, and a regular yoga practice, I will be the best version of myself by this time next year. And I wish the same for you!
See you on your mats. Sweat, stretch & smile,
Kacey
