How do you feel when you step onto your yoga mat? Usually we feel a sense of grounding, peace and connection of body, mind & soul.

Imagine taking the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in a yoga experience, allowing you to take your practice off the mat and into everyday life. A yoga retreat, whether it’s jet-setting across the world or exploring a more local region, can give you this chance.

If you’re not convinced, here’s 5 reasons you should take the plunge:

1. UNPLUG

Take the opportunity to unplug from the digital world for a few days. Notice the difference this makes to the way you move, breath and feel. We often get so caught up in the chaos of life, that we rarely take “time out” to reset and re-connect with ourselves. A yoga retreat is usually in a location that allows you to get back to nature, breath fresh air and indulge in activities that we never give ourselves time for (i.e., take a good book!)

2. TAKE YOUR PRACTICE TO THE NEXT LEVEL

How often do you get the opportunity to attend yoga classes in close succession, let alone two in one day. Your yoga practice on a retreat will be specially designed to help you energise at the beginning of the day, then stretch and unwind at the end of the day. Plus, you’ll have the time to explore your practice, establish a routine and chat in depth with your teachers, an opportunity rarely available to you when rushing in and out of class at the studio.

3. “INDULGE” IN A LITTLE SELF CARE

Whilst we often think of self care as an indulgence, it actually should be a part of our regular routine. Unfortunately, many of us rarely make the time amidst our busy schedules.  A weekend retreat (or better still, longer if you can!) is a great way to take time for you. With everything taken care of, nourish your body, mind & soul with healthy food, yoga, meditation, a stress-free environment and fresh air. Give yourself a treat, you deserve it.

4. GET A NEW PERSPECTIVE

Taking yourself to an unfamiliar location can allow you to reach out of your comfort zone in a safe way. Surrounded by people you don’t necessarily know, but are like-minded. Removing yourself from the usual stresses and distractions to give you the opportunity to become more aware, more mindful of not only your surroundings but your own thoughts. Allowing yourself space is often the best step towards allowing yourself growth.

5. CREATE YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE

The best part about our Kula retreats is that there is the opportunity to create your own experience. If your motivation is an adventure then get outdoors and explore. If you’re interested in the ultimate relaxation then take a good book (or many) and put your feet up. Whilst we encourage attending each of the yoga practices, if a sleep-in beckons you then take that call. After all, it’s your retreat and your opportunity to relax, explore, move, indulge, re-enerise and re-connect.

We are so excited to once again be able to offer a number of retreats next year, both locally and abroad, to suit your every need.
