Hands up if you packed your yoga mat with the best intentions to practice while you were away on holidays… only to leave it rolled up the entire time?

Yep, that was me over the Easter break.

We packed up the car, the kids, and what felt like half the house and headed to my in-laws’ place on the far south coast of NSW for some family time.

Somehow, we managed to squeeze six adults and six kids into the house—so finding a quiet corner to practice yoga? Pretty much impossible.

So, I let it go. I swapped the mat for the great outdoors and threw myself into coast life.

Our days were filled with swimming, surfing, diving, kayaking, beach walks, bike rides, and (arguably the most important activity) swaying in my hammock with a book.

I found the perfect spot to hang it (who am I kidding, my husband did), and that became my little cocoon of quiet time.

I almost made it to a class at the local studio in town. I even looked up the timetable. But then I realised… I was actually loving the break.

At first, I felt guilty. Yoga is what I do—shouldn’t I be practicing? But then I let it go.

Sometimes, when your work and your passion are the same thing, the best thing you can do is take a full break.

Instead, I moved in different ways, rested, and (let’s be real) slightly overindulged—because cheese boards and wine just taste better in holiday mode.

And you know what? It felt amazing. By the time I got home, I was excited to practice and teach again.

I headed back into our studios, reconnected with our communities, and enjoyed the fresh start.

So if you’ve fallen off the yoga wagon, don’t stress—you’re not alone!

We’re ready to welcome you back with open arms. The first few chaturangas might be a rude shock, but that post-class glow? Worth it.
