Building a connection between like-minded individuals is something we’re passionate about at our yoga studio. “Kula” means community in the ancient and sacred language of Sanskrit. Not only do we provide locals from Hawthorn and Camberwell yoga classes, but we also provide them with a yoga studio where people can connect, share and grow. Our students come from all around the Boroondara area to sweat, play, learn and reach their health and fitness goals. Every day at Kula we come across individuals who have inspired us and continue to help shape our community; we wanted to share their stories with you. Read below to learn more.
Name: Neha (Neha is a member of our Kula Tribe membership and newly appointed Karma Yogi)
Kula: Favourite style of yoga at Kula?
Neha: Power Vinyasa
K: Why do you practice yoga?
N: Other than the health benefits, yoga is a great stress relief where I let go of my day. My yoga practice offers me self reflection on and off the mat, compassion and kindness towards myself and others. I’ve been practicing for 2 years now and I’ve felt the best and the happiest!
K: What do you love about Kula Yoga?
N: The studio is warm and inviting. There is no judgement in practice. It’s a positive space to step into whether you’re a beginner or an advanced yogi. The standard of teaching is superb where the teachers go out of their way to make students feel comfortable and answer any questions.
K: Is yoga your main form of exercise, or do you go to the gym, participate in other sports, fitness or activities?
N: I practice yoga 6 times a week. I enjoy hikes and nature walks.
K: What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment?
N: I am focusing on my core strength as that is one of the most important things you need in your practice.
K: Apart from Kula, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area?
N: My favourite cafe to be at is Red Robyn on Camberwell Rd – not only do they have amazing coffee but also vegetarian and vegan optionsN
K: What do you love most about the Kula Tribe?
N: Everyone at the studio is so friendly and I’ve met some great people. There is a strong community bond. Kula holds fun workshops often, where we get over our fear of being upside down or anything else!
