Building a connection between like-minded individuals is something we’re passionate about at our yoga studio. “Kula” means community in the ancient and sacred language of Sanskrit. Not only do we provide locals from Hawthorn and Camberwell yoga classes, but we also provide them with a yoga studio where people can connect, share and grow. Our students come from all around the Boroondara area to sweat, play, learn and reach their health and fitness goals. Every day at Kula we come across individuals who have inspired us and continue to help shape our community; we wanted to share their stories with you.
Name: Rebecca
Kula: Favourite style of yoga at Kula?
Rebecca: Power Yoga (except Crow pose. We don’t get along)
Kula: Why do you practice yoga?
R: Keeps me centered, builds strength, constantly challenges me and provides a place for my mind to restore itself.
Kula: What do you love about Kula?
R: How there are no egos! Isn’t that terrible that some places are now too cool to practice yoga in! Kula is such a restorative space and so welcoming. And no one class is ever the same.
Kula: Is yoga your main form of exercise or do you participate in other sports, fitness or activities?
R: It’s become my main form, I still love walking around Melbourne and swimming with my family
Kula: What is the main health goal you are focusing on at the moment?
R: Keeping my stress levels down and my focus up. Yoga really helps me with both.
Kula: Apart from Kula, where are your favourite hangouts in the Hawthorn, Camberwell or Boroondara area?
R: Olio & Pane for coffee, Fonda for Mexican veggie tacos (it’s a THING) and the Lido Cinema
Kula: What do you love most about the Kula Tribe?
R: It’s a super nice gaggle of yogi’s in all shapes, sizes and smiles.
Kula: Tell us about yourself and how you came to owning/operating your business.
R: I converted to herbal tea a long time ago but found the shop bought stuff is really
diluted, a bit boring, full of caffeine and even sweeteners. Zen Me Tea was created
to solve for delicious, organic herbal tea and also helps to support immune systems,
digestive support and nervous tension. There are 4 distinct blends, using well
respected ingredients which solve for different areas such as digestive health,
calming PMS, curbing 3pm sugar cravings and helping find a good nights sleep.
Just like Yoga, the oldest forms of wellbeing are still some of the best.
Kula: What’s your no 1 wellness tip?
R: Sleep is everything. Have some, it’s free.
Kula: What do you love most about the boroondara/Hawthorn community?
R: How it retains its own independent spirit.
